PSHE & RSE
Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) Education and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)
PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) is an integral and key aspect of the teaching, learning and ethos at Henbury Court. Our PSHE curriculum is designed to ensure the children are taught the knowledge and life skills they will need to stay safe and develop healthy and supportive relationships. Growing up in a world that is not only continuingly changing but becoming increasingly online, it is essential that we equip children with the necessary skills to become resilient, caring and respectful young people. At Henbury Court, we believe in providing our children with opportunities for them to learn about rights and responsibilities and appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society.
To ensure progression and a spiral curriculum, we use Jigsaw, the mindful approach to PSHE, as our chosen teaching and learning programme and tailor it to the children’s needs. The Jigsaw programme offers us a comprehensive, carefully thought-through scheme of work which brings consistency and progression to our children’s learning in this vital curriculum area.
RSE
The PSHE curriculum also includes the teaching of Relationships and Sex Education. This statutory element will help the children to develop safe and healthy relationships throughout their lives. At Henbury Court, we encourage children to express their emotions appropriately, develop empathy and learn about the importance of looking after their physical and mental health.
