Anti-Racism

Anti-Racism Statement

At Henbury Court, we do not tolerate racism of any kind.  We have a zero-tolerance approachto racism and condemn all racist and discriminatory behaviour.  We are committed to challenging and dismantling structural racism within our practices, policies, procedures and community.  We challenge racism, micro aggressions, micro insults, micro assaults and micro invalidations robustly.  It is unacceptable that anyone at the school experiences racism or discrimination of any kind. We will listen, learn and grow as an organisation to ensure that racism or discrimination is not a barrier to belonging within our school.

Please click here to view our procedure for dealing with racist incidents. This procedure was created in collaboration with children, parents/carers and staff as part of our anti-racism workshops.

Anti-Racist Resources

As part of our commitment to becoming an anti-racist school, we are currently in the process of developing a range of child-friendly resources to support parents/carers when talking to your children about racism and what it means to be anti-racist. If you would like to collaborate on this, please speak to Ms Brown on the gate and contact the office.

One video we have found to be useful when speaking with the children is this: JUST IGNORE IT - ANTI-RACISM FILM

Anti-Racism Workshops

As part of this journey, we know how important it is to listen and learn from pupil, parent and carer voices in our school community. To facilitate this, we organised anti-racism workshops for children and parents/carers in February 2025 and from this, agreed an anti-racism action plan. Please look out for correspondence from the school office confirming the date of the next sessions. In the meantime, if there is something you would like to discuss on this topic, please do not hesitate to contact Mr Howarth Brown or Ms Brown on the gate or via the school office.
